Jennifer Awes-Freeman

Jennifer Awes Freeman is a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of St Thomas for 2016-2018 as a postdoctoral fellow at the Louisville Institute, and also teaches medieval art at the University of Minnesota. She is currently revising her dissertation, “Erasing God: Carolingians, Controversy, and the Ashburnham Pentateuch,” for publication and is also writing a book manuscript with the working title The Good Shepherd: Image, Meaning, and Power. She holds a Master of Arts in Religion from the Institute of Sacred Music and Yale Divinity School and a PhD in Historical Studies from the Graduate Department of Religion at Vanderbilt University. Jennifer’s research interests include images of divinity, iconoclasm, material culture, and the mutual influence of art and theology.
